Future of the challenge

By | Latest News | No Comments

Dear riders,

We are saddened to announce that the C.ex McDonald’s Cycle Challenge Coffs Harbour will not be going ahead this year (2019). With a range of great events happening across the Coffs Coast we have been unable to secure a suitable date.

We would love to know your feedback on what time of year the event should be held in future. Please let us know by completing our 1 question survey here.

Thanks for your support and we hope to see you again in 2020!

Thanks for participating

Dear Riders,

Thank you so much for your participation in the Challenge yesterday.  It was a shame that the weather blew in a little earlier than anticipated.  Thanks to everyone for your respect in relation to the changed presentation time. While some riders where able to return home or to their hotel for a hot shower, many were not so fortunate. With so many wet riders we did not want to cause illness or discomfort.  However because we made a change to the presentation time we determined all riders would be eligible for prizes, whether they were in attendance or not.

For those of you looking for the results of today’s 165km, 100km, 60km and 30km rides, please click here.

Congratulations to the lucky draw winners:

Bike – Grant Henderson  South West Rocks

Gift Voucher – David Jonas, Bellingen

Gift Voucher – Grant Homes, Urunga

Gift Voucher – Barry Walker, Coffs Harbour

Traffic movement at Jetty during Cycle Challenge

By | Latest News | No Comments

The relocation of the Challenge to the Jetty has created a couple of changes to traffic movement in the Jetty area on Sunday 28th October.  Please note that the only closed road for the event will be Jordan Esplanade.  Harbour Drive east of Edinburgh Street will have a small parking restriction. Access to the markets is open, as is access to the Jetty strip.

Below is the list of changed road conditions for Sunday 28th October:

  1. Jordan Esplanade from Marina Drive to Camperdown Street will be closed to traffic from 4.30am – 12.00noon
  2. Jordan Esplanade from Camperdown Street through to South Break Wall will be closed to traffic from 8.30am – 9.30am to enable safe passage for the family/10km ride. Movement to and out of the boat ramp and Gallows Beach area will not be possible during this hour.
  3. No parking will be allowed on the northern side of Harbour Drive from Edinburgh Street to the pedestrian crossing between 5.00am – 12noon. Vehicles will be able to park on the southern side of Harbour Drive in the same location.
  4. Vehicles travelling east on Harbour Drive will detour left at Edinburgh Street and then into Mildura Street and onto Orlando Street.  From Orlando Street, traffic will be able to turn right or left.

These road changes have been approved by the Coffs Harbour Police. A public notice was placed by Coffs Council in the Advocate 2 weeks ago.  Letters outlining these road changes have been forwarded to Coffs Boardriders Club and the Deep Sea Game Fishing Club.
