A group of enthusiastic students and teachers from Bishop Druitt College will be putting their best pedals forward as they unite to take part in the 2016 Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge. Approximately 18 staff and students have formed the group which has been organised by Nick Loads, of the ITC Department, Nicola Bird of the PDHPE Department, and Year 12 student Billy Ensbey.

Mr Loads, an avid cyclist who rides to school most days, said the Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge is a perfect fit for the school’s ethos.

“The Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge embodies much of what we endeavour to impart to our students – embracing physical challenges and fitness; promoting a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the outdoors; community involvement, and ultimately helping those who benefit from the Rotary Charities.

“We encourage all our student to help others,” Mr Loads said. “Participating in an event such as this further strengthens their appreciation of helping other people.”

Mr Loads said this is the first time Bishop Druitt College have participated in the Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge as a school and the entire staff is excited to see such great participation amongst the staff and students. He has laid down a challenge to other local schools to get a team together.

“We would love to see every school participating in this fantastic community event, so let’s throw out a challenge to all schools to get on board this year!”

The 2016 Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge takes place on Saturday August 13 and Sunday August 14. For all details go to
